Leaning against something in prayer to avoid losing balance

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Qibla.com

Answered by Shaykh Faraz Rabbani

If I lose balance in Salah, is it permissible for me to lean on something as support to prevent my self from falling or to regain balance?

Answer:
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

Walaikum assalam wa rahmatullah,

There is nothing wrong with this. The fiqh works say that it is permitted to lean against something when there is need, and disliked when there isn’t. [Shurunbulali, Imdad al-Fattah; Ibn Abidin, Radd al-Muhtar]

Wassalam,
Faraz Rabbani
