Saying the basmala in prayer

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Qibla.com

Answered by Shaykh Faraz Rabbani

Does one have to say “bismillah ar rahman nir rahim” before surah al fatiha and any other surat whilst praying namaz?

Answer:
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

Walaikum assalam wa rahmatullah,

I pray that you are well, and in the best of health and spirits. May Allah grant you all good in this life and the next.

It is an emphasized sunna to say it before the Fatiha, and good before beginning other suras. [Shurunbulali, Maraqi]

And Allah alone gives success.

Faraz Rabbani
