Is it necessary to wash meat before cooking?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Qibla.com

Answered by Sidi Fadi Qutub Zada

Is it necessary to wash meat before cooking? For example some people don’t wash minced meat and put it to cooking just as they buy it, saying it takes too much time for the blood to drain and it doesn’t all drain out anyway. Is this permissible or do you HAVE to wash the meat regardless?

Answer:
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

Assalamu alaikum

The blood that remains in the meat and in the veins of a slaughtered animal is pure, therefore it is not necessary to wash meat before cooking it. [Maraqi al-Falah page 219, Maktabat al-Ilm al-Hadith]

This is because it is not flowing blood (dam masfooh) which is impure by Qur’anic text; and because it is difficult to avoid. [Hashiyat al-Tahtawi, page 219]

And Allah alone gives success
