Can I miss Friday Khutba to help with traffic and parking at the mosque and still get full reward?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftisays.com
As Salaam Alaikum, Is it permissible to miss the Friday Khutba in order to help traffic flow and parking in the Mosque? I have been reluctant in volunteering to help due to the fact that I may miss the Friday Khutba. Someone told me that if I did volunteer, it would be as if I didnt miss the Khutba and I would still get full reward. Please advise

Answer
Bismihi Ta’ala

Volunteering in this manner in no way substitutes for the missed Khutbah. This is a misunderstanding. The Masjid should make other arrangements for this problem or the Khatib should clearly announce to the people to be more considerate at Jumu’ah times.

It is encouraging to see your involvement in the well being of the community but not at the expense of the friday Khutbah which has a vital position in the friday prayers.

And Allah knows best
