Is ghusl required after a wet dream if only mazi is present?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftisays.com
assalamualaykum warahmatullahi wabarakatuhu respected mufti sahib

this topic is abit unmodest but me and my friends are confused about it because we remember reading in behesti zewar that after a person has a wetdream and they ejaculate semen then ghusl becomes wajib on them, but then we read somewhere else that if after one remembers having a wet dream and they are certain that it is mazi even then it is wajib on them to have a bath, but isnt the condition for mazi is only that one does wudhu, please clarify.

also does mani ever come out without mazi coming out, becuase this is unmodest but some womens wadi is also white and abit thick, so the only way they distinguish between wadi and mani is that if there is mazi present aswell then the fluid is mani, if no mazi then it is wadi.because mani only comes out after desire, which is after that mazi is emitted

if one remembers that during wetdream one sees member of opposite sex but has no desire and finds wetness afterwards is ghusl required?

if one remembers having dream and one feels aroused yet one does not feel they have reached climax during dream is ghusl still required?

so sorry

Al-jawab billahi at-taufeeq (the answer with Allah’s guidance)

Refer to the following scenarios, when one awakes and find wetness, whether one is certain or doubts about the type of fluid emitted and whether one remembers seeing a wet dream or not.

1) If one finds wetness which is Mani with certainty and whether one remembers having a wet dream or not, Ghusl will be Wajib.

2) If one finds wetness which is Mazi with certainty and whether one remembers having a wet dream or not, Ghusl will be Wajib.

3) If one finds any kind of wetness with the doubt of it being Mani or Mazi and whether one remembers having a wet dream or not, Ghusl will be Wajib.

Explanation: Ghusl becoming Wajib for the second and third scenarios,

Mani can sometimes become thin over time that it becomes like Madhi. Also, it is necessary in acts of worship to exercise precaution.

(Al Ashbah Wan Nazair Pg. 64, Nurul Idhah Pg.37, Hashiat Tahtawi Pg. 99)

If one did not find any kind of wetness after a dream then Ghusl is not required. (Nurul Idhah Pg. 38, Hashiat Tahtawi Pg. 101)

Note: ‘Mazi’ (pre-coital fluid), is a thin clear liquid which is discharged at the time of arousal without ejaculation and it can be released without one being aware of it. This necessitates Whudu on emission.

‘Mani’ (Sperm), is a white thick fluid which is discharged at the time of ejaculation. The Mani of a woman is thin and yellow. This necessitates a Ghusl on emission.

‘Wadi’, is a white cloudy thick fluid which has no smell and is discharged either before or after urinating. This necessitates Whudu on emission.

(Hashiat Tahtawi Pg. 100)

And Only Allah Ta’ala Knows Best.
