Is Hassen Rasool’s Qur’an recitation too musical according to the hadith?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftisays.com
Assalamu Alaykum Warahma Tullaah, Can any of the Ulamaa please listen to some recitation of Hassen Rasool (a new qari in London) and tell me whether it is too musicy because I heard of a hadith prohibiting the recitation of the Qur’aan in a too melodious tune. His surah fatihah automatically plays in the background here: http://www.hassenrasool.com/art (flash is required)

Jazakumullaahu Khairaan
Wassalaam

Answer
We would advise you to continue listening to the famous weel established Qaris from the Haramain and around the world.

This answer is simply based on the video on the link which you provided. AlhamduliLLah all praises due to Allah the Quran is a beautiful book and we do not need secondary objects such as works of art in order to appreciate its beauty. Neither does the Quran have any link whatsoever with artistic drawings as portrayed in the video. This is the contemporary westernised approach i.e to apply excessive value to paintings and other art. We are advised in the Quran to ponder upon its meaning and this can be achieved by reading up on the tafseer and explanation written by authentic scholars.
Otherwise is a sin to make analogies and interpretations ourselves whether that is comparing with paintings or free interpretation. please refer to the Hadith quoted below:

whoever interprets Qur’an by his own opinion may him prepare his place in the Hellfire. (Abu Dawud)

Qur’aan should not be read in tunes that resemble music.

And Allah knows best.
