Answer
Waalaikumussalam warahmatullahi wabarakatuh.
Bismillahir rahmaanir rahim.

Allah Taala has stated in the Glorified Quraan:
‘Do people think that they would be left alone because they say “We believe” and will not be tried?’ (Surah Al-‘Ankabut, verse 2)

From the Quraanic verse, it is inevitable for us as Muslims to be tested and tried by Allah to prove our sincerity towards Allah. It comes in a hadith : The most severe in trial are the apostles then the ‘ulamaa then the pious people.

Allah mentions in another verse of the Holy Quraan : ‘Allah does not impose a soul except according to its capability…’ (Surah Al-Baqarah, verse 286)

Therefore, no matter how difficult the hardship may seem it is never above one’s capability to outcome it. The reason Allah tests us is so that we may return towards Allah and ask from no one but Allah. Allah wants to see us shed tears and acknowledge our weakness as humans and Allah as the One of Absolute Strength. In Islam there is no such thing as bad luck and the fact that your babies did not survive was due to the divine decree of Allah which Allah has written long before the creation of man and nothing else.

As believing Muslims, we should be convicted in the actions of our Creator who is Most Wise and All Knowing to be the best of actions. Many a times we fail to see the hikmah (wisdom) behind Allah’s actions due to our limited knowledge but Allah will show it to us sooner or later. The ‘ulamaa are unanimous upon that those Muslim children who pass away before reaching maturity (baligh) will enter jannah and become a barrier for their parents from the fire of jahannam. Subhanallah, look at the mercy of Allah! You may have lost your two babies but look what Allah has in return favoured upon you and your husband. Therefore, there is no need to feel bad about oneself and blame oneself of what has happened. Rather, make shukr to Allah for bestowing you such a huge bounty. Do not ever become despondent from the mercy of Allah and have hope in the forgiveness of Allah as Allah has mentioned in the Holy Quraan “…Don’t become despondent from the mercy of Allah…” (Surah Az-Zumar, verse 53).

And Allah knows best.

Wassalam.
