Is Chicken Cottage 100% halal?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftisays.com
Salaam Mufti saab,

In the new edition of Muslim Directory there is a rather colourful advertisement for a halaal chicken and chips place called Chicken Cottage. They also have a website www.chickencottage.com. Can you please find out if they are 100% halaal. They do have a very large store base even stretching out to Europe and the Middle East. The closet ones to us are their stores in Seven Sisters Rd and Leyton.

Jazakallah

We contacted HMC for a response:

Assalaamu ‘Alaykum W.W.

We hope this finds you in the best of health & strength of Imaan.

With regards to the inquiry about the chain of Chicken Cottage takeaways then unfortunately we are not in a position to comment. None of the shops mentioned in the e-mail have a HMC certificate and therefore are not monitored daily in the usual fashion by one of our inspectors. Due to this we have no control over their suppliers nor do we know who their suppliers are and as a result cannot issue any sort of approval or assurance of their claims.

May Allah (s.w.t) guide us all on the straight path, keep us steadfast on His Deen, and give us the ability to serve His Deen with sincerity and to practice Deen in the ways illustrated by our beloved Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w). May He keep us under His protection at all times and save us from what He has made unlawful for us, ameen. Jazakallah Khair

Wasalaam
