Can tax consultants for Mini-Cab drivers receive benefits and tax credits?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftisays.com
Assalamu aww,
I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your efforts and service to the community, may Allah accept it and reward you immensely,
As I’m planing to become an Agent for HMRC (as a Tax Consultant) basically to do Self Assessment on behalf of my clients (mostly Mini-Cab Drivers) and also I will be dealing with Tax Credits and all sort of Benefits, if I don’t involve in any kind of interest calculation, is this kind of job allowed or not? (should I also have to consider the Mini-Cab driving and their earnings is allowed or not?)
and is it permissible to receive benefits and tax credits in this country?, please be kind enough to advice me as soon as possible.

And if possible, is it permissible to take decision or choose something by tossing/lot (method of deciding through picking out chits)?

If possible please send you advice to my email address as well please.

Jazakkallahu-khairan.
Bro.Azmath.

To receive benefits and tax credit is permissible as long as one qualifies for the amount. The role of a tax agent or advisor in the UK as described above is permissible with the condition that the client’s income is primarily halal and you do not advise your client or act on their behalf to do that which is haram.

The amount earned through driving a minicab in itself is allowed.

In regards to the issue of deciding randomly through a toss or drawing lots there is some details. If it is a choice between right and wrong choose that which is right. If both are wrong choose neither. If both are equal then it depends on time. If there is enough time, do mashwarah (consultation) or istikharah. In all these cases randomness is largely futile and one should turn to better means for it will yield a better results. If one is pressed for time and the choices are all equal in goodness one may draw lots so long as one does not attribute it with divinity. The prophet (صلي الله عليه وسلم) would choose the wife who was to accompany him in travel amongst his wife through lots. Allah knows best.
