Can Muslim men wear pink and jewelry despite its association with women?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftisays.com
Are men allowed to wear pink? The prophet has mentioned that men cannot wear red and jewerly, one of the reasons that it is imatating women. But now-a-days it is fasionable for men to wear earings and pink t-shirts. I asked people to name me a woman’s colour and thet first thing they said was pink but they got confused when I mentioned to them that it is also a men’s colour now. I understand that it stared off as a woman’s thing but it has become unisex now
(jewerly and pink). Us as muslims in a way we won’t be imatating the kuffar because they were alot of things back in the prophet’s time that we did not have today like cars, mobile etc and we use them beacuse we need to but here we really do not have to wear it but can we?. If we are not, what if the shirt is less than 50 percent pink? Are we still not allowed to wear them? I know we can’t do qiyas with this beacuse one is the cloth and one is the colour but they can be linked back to women. men are allowed to wear silk if its less than 50 percent and they were alot of things that were allowed back then but its alright now like what i have asked in the questions and red. Can you please email me back a full replied answer as soon as possible. Jazakallah.

Al-jawab billahi at-taufeeq (the answer with Allah’s guidance)

According to Hanafi schools, it is Makruh Tanzihi (Less offensively disliked) for men to wear pure red and bright clothes.

Also, as a precautionary measure one should refrain from the colour pink too.

It is mentioned in Mujtaba, Quhastani, and Sharh Niqaya of Abu Makarim as follows: There is no problem in wearing red clothes. This indicates that the (karaha) offensiveness is slight (tanzihi)…

Allama Ibn Abidin says (wearing red clothes) has been narrated by Imam Abu Hanifa, as mentioned in Multaqat. And it shows that the karaha (offensiveness) is tanzihi, because the word ‘la ba’s’ is used generally in leaving things, which is better.” [I’la al-Sunan, Zafar Ahmad Usmani, 17.358-360)]

Imam Nawawi (Allah have mercy on him) said in his Majmu`(4.336-337) that it is permissible for men to wear white, red, yellow, green, [s. black], striped clothing and other colors on their clothing. There is no disagreement on this point, nor is there any dislike in this (wearing these colors).

So, the permissibility of wearing red and bright colors i.e yellow, pink etc, is only when it is mixed with other colors (stripes, for example).

Lastly, I like to mention that jewelry, earings is Haraam for men. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “Allah curses men who emulate women and women who emulate men.” [Sahîh al-Bukhârî (5885)]

One must not impersonate unbelieving men in wearing jewelry, earings and other forbidden acts in Islam.

As Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wa salam) has said, “Whosoever impersonates a nation (other than Islam) will be (resurrected) from them on the day of judgment”. (Sunan Abu Dawud)

And Only Allah Ta’ala Knows Best.
