What is the rule for the duration of I’tikaaf and is there a minimum or maximum time limit?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftisays.com
Assalamu Alaikum,

Is there a specific rule regarding how many days a person should do I’tikaaf for?

If a person wishes to sit in I’tikaaf for 1 day or 1 week, is there anything wrong with this? Shukran

Answer
Wa Alaikumus Salaam,

There are no specific amount of days mentioned in Ahadeeth regarding how many days a person should sit in I’tikaaf.

However, I’tikaaf in the last 10 days of Ramadhan is a great Sunnah of Nabi (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam).

And Allah knows best.
