When do children begin praying namaaz and what happens if they don’t?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftisays.com
at what age do children start praying namaaz ?and what if they dont?

Answer
In the Hadeeth Rasoolullah Sallallahu Alaihi wasallam said, “Order your children to perform prayers at the age of seven, and at the age of ten you may hit them in aspects related to prayers.” This means that if at the age of ten, the child is not performing prayers regularly, or he is missing out some postures of prayers or not performing them in the required manner then he must be disciplined. This in no way means that a father should hit him till he is bruised. Very light beating, maybe with the Miswaak is allowed, although, to advise them is always better. All of these stages are so that a child is well trained in this very important fundamental of the Deen. Otherwise, the laws of Allah are made incumbent on every man and woman when they reach the age of puberty. If these laws are imposed at this late age and the child is not already in the habit of performing his rituals then it will be very hard to start. For this reason, Islam has given us the guidance of training them from a tender age.
