Respected questioner,

Jumuah Salah is not Fardh (obligatory) on a Shar’ee Musafir (i.e. a traveller intending to travel over 48miles, staying at the destination for less than 15 days).

So if a person leaves the city before Jumuah salah and he is intending to travel more than 48 miles then just Salaah-AL-Zuhr is Fardh (obligatory), and the Fardh Rakaats (units of prayer) of Zuhr will be 2 Rakats instead of 4. [1]

If the person returned back to his home before the time of Salaah-AL-Asr, and did not perform Salaah-AL-Zuhr whilst travelling (Safar) then Jumuah will become Fardh upon him.

This is when all the conditions required for Salaah-AL-Jumuah are met, such as a minimum congregation consisting of an imam and 3 muqtadis etc.

If any of the prerequisites for Salaah-AL-Jumuah are not met the person will perform 4 Rakats of Salaah-AL-Zuhr. [2]
