Does the Quran prescribe 5 daily prayers or only 2?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftisays.com
Does Quran say that we need to pray 5 time a day? I was told by someone that Quran says two times. I know Ahadith are clear about this issue and I have no doubt but I still need to know what Quran says. I am supposed to explain to my sons as soon as possible.

WaAssalam

Al-jawab billahi at-taufeeq (the answer with Allah’s guidance)

In the Quran Allah Ta’ala says,

“So glorify Allah (above all that (evil) they associate with Him (O believers)), when you come up to the evening (i.e. offer the (Maghrib) sunset and (Isha) night prayers), and when you enter the morning (i.e offer the (Fajr) morning prayer).”

“And His is all the praises and thanks in the heavens and the earth, and (glorify Him) in the
afternoon (i.e. offer Asr prayer) and when you come up to the time, when the day begins to decline (i.e offer Zuhr prayer). ” (30/17,18)

(Ibn Abbas said: “These are the five compulsory congregational prayers mentioned in the Quran).” (Sunanul Baiyhaqi Vol.1 Pg. 359)

It is reported from Hasan (RA) that in the Quran Allah Ta’ala says,

“And perform As-Salat (Iqamat-as-Salat), at the two ends of the day (Fajr, Zuhr and Asr) and in some hours of the night (Maghrib and Isha i.e. the five compulsory Salat (prayers)). Verily, the good deeds remove the evil deeds (i.e. small sins). That is a reminder (an advice) for the mindful (those who accept advice).”(11/114) (Sunanul Baiyhaqi Vol.1 Pg. 359)

(Al Fiqhul Hanafi Wa Adillatuhu Vol.1 Pg.115)

And Only Allah Ta’ala Knows Best.
