Is it a sin to touch hands with someone of a different gender when exchanging money at a store?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftisays.com
When going to a shop or store and the person at the counter is not the same gender as you, sometimes when giving/recieving change there is contact with the other persons hand. I want to know if we are sinful for this.

Answer
Bismillah

Al-jawab billahi at-taufeeq (the answer with Allah’s guidance)

This should be totally avoided. Rasulullah (Sallallaahu Alayhi Wasallam) has mentioned: Whosoever touches the palm of a strange woman (who he is allowed to marry), a burning ember will be placed on his palm on the day of judgment. (Hidaaya vol.4 pg.485)

And Only Allah Ta’ala Knows Best.
