What is the active role for Muslim women in their community according to shariah?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftisays.com
Nowadays you come across many western reports suggesting that Muslim women should play a more active role in the community. According to shariah, what would be considered as an active role that a woman can play within her community?

Answer
Assalamualaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh.
Bismillahir rahmaanir rahim.

A Muslim woman can do a lot for her community to be considered playing an active role. She can take up teaching as a profession and educate people, hold weekly ta’lim at her home, attend deeni classes with other fellow Muslim women to increase her knowledge on deen, make sure her children are getting the proper Islamic upbringing, become a journalist and propagate Islam through her articles, do fund raising within her community and assist the needy and many more.

A more active role does not mean that a Muslim woman should forsake the laws of Syariah and compete with the westerners just to prove a point to them. A Muslim woman can do so much for her community within the confinements of Syariah and that is the beauty of Islam.

And Allah knows best.

Wassalam.
