Are engagement rings allowed in Islam?

In Islam are you allowed to have engagement rings?If no !please can you give reasons.

Al-jawab billahi at-taufeeq (the answer with Allah’s guidance)

Islam does not recognise an engagement ring or a wedding ring . These are customs of the kuffaar.

Rasullulah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wa salam) has said, “”Whosoever impersonates a nation (other than Islam) will be (resurrected) from them on the day of judgment”. (Sunan Abu Dawud)

And Only Allah Ta’ala Knows Best.
