Lip Reading in Videos: Is it Eavesdropping?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: Does reading ones lips in a video count as eavesdropping?

Bismillaah

A: Pictures of all animate objects are declared forbidden and haraam in Islam. Severe warnings have been sounded in the Ahaadith for the one who has any involvement in this grave sin. Sincerely repent to Allah Ta’ala for committing this sin and make a firm resolve that you will not repeat it in the future.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
