Does Passing Wind Break Wudhu Only with Odour or Sound?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: I have heard that passing wind being in the state of wudhu, breaks wudhu only if the wind has odour or sound. Otherwise wudhu remains valid. Is it true?

Bismillaah

A: This is incorrect. Through passing wind, one’s wudhu will break even though there is no sound or smell.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
