Is Keeping in Touch with Relatives a Must?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: Is keeping in touch with relatives wajib. I mean contacting them by phone once in a month or two?

Bismillaah

A: Maintaining ties between one’s family is an obligation in Deen. If one is unable to visit them, then telephonically contacting them and enquiring about their condition and welfare is sufficient.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
