Does Repentance During Menstruation Require Specific Prayers?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: If a female who is menstruating makes a mistake and cannot pray the prayer of repentance so she repents in her heart by asking for forgiveness and saying sorry and at the end says ameen, does it count or do you have to read /say something a surah or something in the beginning as well?

Bismillaah

A: Sincerely repenting to Allah Ta’ala from one’s heart is sufficient. However it should be known that taubah has three basic elements: (1) To discharge all past obligations, be it to Allah Ta’ala or to people. (2) To resolve never to commit those sins again. (3) To express remorse for the wrongs that have been committed. Performing Salaah is not a precondition for the acceptance of one’s taubah. And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
