Suppressing one’s urge to pass wind while performing Salaah

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: If we control gas during namaaz, will it be valid or not or again we need to perform the prayer and wudhu? If we are not sure that wind is passed or not at that time, then what should we do?

Bismillaah

A:

1. If gas was not released, then the Salaah will be valid.

2. If you are not certain and to whether wind was released, then regard the Salaah to be valid.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
