Working for a graphic design company

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: About my son who works in a design company and wishes to know whether he can continue the job or resign: “Respected Mufti Saheb, May your shadow never grow less. Here is a question about my job. I am a Muslim web and graphic designer. I work for a non-Muslim company, they are good people and even allow me time for Namaaz and Jumaa and all Islamic holidays. Sometimes I have to insert photos of the chairman in a speech text page and add other group photos of conferences in the bulletin. Since I am not the photographer or artist will I be culpable? I will lose the job otherwise. Page layouts and managing photos is part of the job.”

Bismillaah

A: Obviously pasting the picture or taking the picture are both wrong. Where you are forced then accept this as a wrong and ask Allah’s forgiveness and look for a way where you can come out of this wrong completely.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
