Fajr Sunnats when one fears missing the jamaat Salaah

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: A person is late for fajr in the musjid. If he prays his two rakaats of sunnah, he will miss the congregational prayer, but will still have time to pray individually. What is most important: that he prays his Sunnah or that he prays in congregation?

Bismillaah

A: If he fears that through performing the Sunnats he will miss the jamaat, then in this case he should omit the Sunnats and join the jamaat.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
