Respecting a person who has kufr beliefs

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: If a certain individual (zaid) believed in the tahreef of the Quran, and other person (xyz) doesn’t belief in the kufar of zaid, and still holds him in high regard and thinks of him as a great person, does xyz also become a kafir?

Bismillaah

A: If he respects him because he believes in the tahreef of the Qur’aan then this is supporting and encouraging disbelief, and supporting and encouraging disbelief is also disbelief.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
