The Significance of Black Beads, Chilli on Meat, and Quranic Requirements for Newborns

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: What is the purpose of putting black beads on the new borns hand? What’s the purpose of putting a fresh or dry chilli on meat, which maybe cooked or raw. Especially when travelling at night? What is the requirements according to Quraan and Sunnah when we have a newborn?

Bismillaah

A: There is no shar`ee basis for this.

As above.

When the child is born azaan and iqaamat should be called out in its ears. Thereafter on the seventh day the hair of the child should be removed and the aqeeqah performed, two sheep for a boy and one sheep for a girl. Further, a good name should be chosen for the child.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
