Taking a picture of a person holding a screen in front of his face

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: Is it permissible to take a photo of a person who holds a screen in front of his face, since the face will not be visible? Also, is it permissible to take a picture of a woman in niqaab since her face will not be visible?

Bismillaah

A:

1. If it is a picture of a na-mahram, it will be impermissible.

2. It is impermissible. Just as the face of a woman should be concealed as it can lead to fithna, similarly her shape and her body also should be concealed from the gazes of strange men as this also can lead to fithna.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
