Managing Salaah with Irregular Periods: A Guide for Women

Q: My wife has a regular period problem. It is bewtween 10-15 days. When should she start Salaah, etc?

A: If she has a set pattern e.g. 7 days, and the blood continued for more than 10 days, 7 days will be regarded as haidh and the remaining days will be regarded as istihaazah. However if the blood continued for more than the days of her normal bleeding, but stopped within ten days, her pattern of haidh will then change and the entire period will be regarded as haidh. In the state of istihaazah a woman will make wudhu and perform her Salaah.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
