Awrah of Women: Guidelines for Dressing in Front of Mahrams and Non-Mahrams

Q:

  1. What is the awrah of women in front of mahram and non-mahram ?
  2. Sleevless clothes and clothes that expose the chest are allowed to wear in front of mahrams?

A:

  1. Besides her face, hands till the wrist and feet, her entire body is awrah in front of na mahrams. In this age and time due to the abundant fitnah prevalent, it is compulsory for women to cover their faces before na mahrams. 
  2. It is impermissible for a woman to expose her stomach and her back in front of mahrams as well as the area between the navel till the knee (including the knee).

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
