Women cutting their hair for medical reasons

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: My hair is very long. I do not cut it anymore, but I am in my last month of pregnancy. My head gets hot so I don’t use hair dryer. Then I get a headache. Also when a baby is born, I feel I may not cope, my hair is thick. Is it possible to cut my hair, just this once?

A: To trim it slightly for medical reasons, like the hair that is below the buttocks is permissible.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
