Cough syrup which contains alcohol

Q: Is it permissible to drink cough syrup which contains alcohol?

A: There are non-alcohol substitutes. Hence, refrain from this.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.

( والحقنة ) للتداوي ولو للرجل بطاهر لا بنجس وكذا كل تداو لا يجوز إلا بطاهر وجوزه في النهاية بمحرم إذا أخبره طبيب مسلم أن فيه شفاء ولم يجد مباحا يقوم مقامه  ( الدر المختار 6/389)

وأكل الترياق يكره إذا كان فيه شيء من الحيات وإن باع ذلك جاز (الفتاوى الهندية 1/ 355)
