Not leaving the house for forty days from the time of delivery

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: In Hyderabad, India, we have a custom that for any woman who delivers a baby, she cannot go out until 40 days from the date of delivery
are completed, like we call it as Chalis din ka chilla. Until 40 days, they cannot go out of house. How far is this true?

A: There is no basis for this.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
