Wearing purdah and going for Jamaat

Q:

  1. Is covering face fardh on women or just wearing burkha which covers the whole body except hands, feet and face suffice?
  2. Is going for jamaat for dawah purpose from one place to another correct in islam? Is it part of sunnah? And what about reading fazaele aamal book? I heard few scholars saying just to follow sahih hadith and not these books. Please clarify.

A:

  1. It is compulsory.
  2. Propagating deen in accordance to one’s ability is a Deeni obligation. Different methods are adopted in fulfilling this obligation. Some teach in a maktab or madrasah, others participate in Deeni programmes, etc. The method that the jamaat have adopted is one method in fulfilling this Deeni obligation. The book fazaail-e-A’maal is a book that is replete with the Ahaadith of Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) and the stories of Sahaabah. Refer to http://muftionline.co.za/node/3466
