Tested or Punished: How to Tell the Difference

Q: How do you know if you are being tested or punished?

A: Don’t put your mind to that. Under all trials ask Allah Ta`ala’s forgiveness and beg for ease.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.

عن العباس بن عبد المطلب قال قلت : يا رسول الله علمني شيئا أسأله الله عز و جل قال سل الله العافية فمكثت أياما ثم جئت فقلت يا رسول الله علمني شيئا أسأله الله فقال لي يا عباس يا عم رسول الله سلوا الله العافية في الدنيا والآخرة (الترمذي رقم 3514)
