Gift Aid and 100% Donation Policies: Are Charities Using Government Funds for Admin Costs?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: I am a UK tax payer and donate to charities. These charities state that they have a 100% donation policy. I tick the gift aid box so the government contributed as well. This money from the government is used for admin costs and salaries by some charities. Is this permissible, as the government donates the money on the understanding that it will be used exclusively for the respective charity and not for admin costs?

A: If the government is donating the money exclusively for the avenues that you have proposed and they will not use anything for the administration then this charity is valid.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
