A:

Surely Allah Ta’ala and his angels send Durood (blessings) upon Nabi (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam), O you who believe! You also send Durood and Salaams upon Hazrat Nabi (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) in abundance.

In the above mentioned verse, Allah Ta’ala commands the believers to send Durood and Salaams upon Hazrat Nabi-e-kareem (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam). Allah Ta’ala says I myself and my pure creation; the Malaaikah continuously send Durood (blessings) upon Nabi (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam). Hence, you should also send Durood and Salaams upon my beloved Nabi (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam).

Salwaat or Durood means to praise and honour Hazrat Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) with extreme love and compassion. With regard to Allah Ta’ala, it means Allah Ta’ala’s honouring and exalting Nabi (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) before the Malaaikah and showering exclusive and choicest blessings and mercies upon Hazrat Nabi-e-kareem (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) in this world and the next. With regard to the angels, it means the angels exalting Hazrat Nabi (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) through making special dua to Allah to shower choicest blessings and mercies upon Hazrat Nabi-e-kareem (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam). With regard to the believers, it is a combination of the both i.e. showing honour and respect to Hazrat Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) as well as making dua to Allah Ta’ala to invoke his choicest blessings and mercies upon him.

Durood and Salaat are synonymous.

Salaam refers to the dua that the ummatis make to Allah Ta’ala to invoke peace upon Hazrat Nabi-e-Kareem (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam).

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
