Should I Give Money to Street Vendors Without Buying?

Q: Should I give money to people selling stuff that I don’t need to buy without buying anything from them?

A: This is sadaqah. Sadaqah is meant for the poor.

Q: So should I not give money without buying anything? It’s just that I don’t need the stuff that they try to sell, and they’re not Muslims, so I can’t give them gifts.

A: Sadaqah can be given to both Muslims and non-Muslims.

Q: Should I give the sadaqah when they’re selling?

A: If you feel that they are deserving, then you may help them with sadaqah.
