Questions About Murat: Qualifications, Permissibility, and Salaah

Q: I have a few questions pertaining to murat.

  1. What qualifies as murat? Is it just eyes, face, or even the outline of an animate object?
  2. I have an embroided picture of people around the kaabah, their faces are not visible, however you can see their bodies and that they are humans, is this picture permissible to have?
  3. Can one read salaah in the same room as where murat is displayed?

A:

  1. The entire face.
  2. If their faces cannot be seen, it will be permissible.
  3. It is makrooh for one to read Salaah in a room where pictures of animate objects are displayed.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
