Controling one’s nafs and desires

Q: I wanted to know how to control nafs and I ended up in a site which tells you how to kill it permanently. But I have doubts concerning them. I dont know if it is permissible or not to do this kind of wazifa. The site is www.wazifas.com and I was searching for  http://www.wazifas.com/how-to-kill-your-nafs.php Can you read them and tell me if I can do these wazifa. Even my parents are confused. We have never heard about these things before. if it is not permisssible, can you tell me how to control your nafs and desires?

A: All these practises are misleading. They have no basis in Shari’ah. The only way to oppose the nafs and attain eternal success is to refrain from sin and strictly adhere to the Mubaarak sunnah of Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) in every facet of one’s life. In this way, one will succeed in opposing the nafs. Generally, this is acquired under the supervision and guidance of a spiritual shaikh (whose entire lifestyle conforms to the Mubaarak Sunnah of Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam). Just as a person suffering from heart ailments does not treat himself, instead he refers his physical problems to a surgeon and one who is experienced in the line of medicine. The doctor after diagnosing the problem will then decide whether the patient needs to go on a diet or requires surgery. The patient will not of his own, diagnose, prescribe medication nor conduct the operation upon himself.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
