Q: We have always been taught not to wear moorat/clothing with eyes and animate objects on them. We have been told recently that if an object like a cartoon character even if it be a car has eyes drawn/painted on it, is then not considered as moorat. This is because a car is not an animate object. Is this correct?
A: All animate objects are forbidden in Islam. If the car picture is draw in such a way that it resembles an animate object i.e with hands, feet, face and eyes, it will be impermissible. However if it is a picture of a car and eyes have been drawn on the front, it will not be treated as a picture of an animate object.
And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
