Decoding my Mom’s Dream: A Circus, a Dog Show, and My Male Friend in a Royal Uniform

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: My mom told me about this dream she had of my male friend. She said that before she went to bed she saw an ad on tv about a circus which may have affected her dream. She dreamed that my male friend invited us to a dog show (where dogs are preemed and made to jump hoops etc). She said we (including herself, my male friends best friend, my sisters and I) were standing at the front of the stands watching, enjoying and laughing while my male friend was dressed in a royal uniform and white gloves with his dog. She said his dog spoke and when the dog was told by him to commence a trick through a hoop, the dog would say no and smile. Then when the person giving score walked away, the dog would do the trick which left my friend embarrassed. She said he would look over to me. We’ve tried looking up this dream, but to no success. Could you give any clarity as to this dream?

A: This world is a temporary abode. The actual abode is the abode of the hereafter. To the extent one strives in fulfilling the orders of Allah Ta’ala and leading a life conforming to the Mubaarak Lifestyle of Rasulullah (صلى الله عليه وسلم) (i.e. every facet of his/her life conforms to the Mubaarak Sunnah of Rasulullah (صلى الله عليه وسلم)) one will be successful in the sight of Allah Ta’ala. On the contrary to the extent that one emulates the ways of the kuffaar and leads a life in contrast to the sunnah, proportionately one will be a loser in the sight of Allah Ta’ala. In other words the only barometer to gauge one’s success and failure is the Sunnah. Shariat commands us that we should observe strict purdah when dealing with the opposite sex. The meaning of the dream is that the boyfriend’s conduct does not conform to the Sunnah (i.e. he is not observing purdah from you) and hence his being seen as the clown in the circus, being laughed at. All those who are spectators, audience watching him in that position are those who condone the incorrect conduct.

And Allah Ta’ala knows best.
