What to do with a free non-Muslim Easter Egg that’s Halaal?

Q: If a person is given an ‘Easter Egg’ by a non-Muslim for free, what should be done with this chocolate egg? The ingredients are ‘Halaal’ – MJC approved.

A: It is impermissible in Shari’ah to accept an Easter egg as a gift. If one had accepted an Easter egg, one should sincerely repent to Allah Ta’ala and make a firm resolve that one will not commit this sin again in the future. If it is possible to return the Easter egg to the non Muslim who had given it, one should do so otherwise one should bury it.

And Allah Ta’ala knows best.
