Following an Ibaadi Imaam

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: In Oman local people follow an ibadi imam and they are not reciting sura’s with sure fatiha in the first 2 rakats of zohar & Asr Salaah. Since im not praying with jamat (mostly 2nd jamath (not 1st jamat) inside masjid but juma salaah is not prayed on Friday) If the ibaadi imam leads the prayer during asr and zohar I pray separatly.

A: If the Imaam does not read surah fatiha and surahs, the namaaz is not valid. You should perform Salaah separately.
