Untying the kafn after placing the deceased in the grave

Q: After placing body of the deceased in the grave female or male does the kafan need to be opened up from the head side and the face of the deceased have to be uncovered?

A: Just the knots should be opened. Leave the kafn as it is.

( و ) يستحب أن ( يدخل من قبل القبلة ) بأن يوضع من جهتها ثم يحمل فيلحد ( و ) أن ( يقول واضعه بسم الله وبالله وعلى ملة رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم ويوجه إليها ) وجوبا وينبغي كونه على شقة الأيمن ولا ينبش ليوجه إليها ( وتحل العقدة ) للاستغناء عنها

قال الشامي في رد المحتار : قوله ( للاستغناء عنها ) لأنها تعقد لخوف الانتشار عند الحمل (رد المحتار 2/ 236)
