We develop call centre software and some of our clients are banks

Q: I work for a software company where we create call centre software (IVR) related products. Not all of our clients are banks but right now we have two clients which are banks. The call centre software is mainly used (as per my knowledge) for changing ATM pin, complaining about lost cards. Like it connects the caller and with the agent of the company and then they both talk and the caller may explain his/her problem to the agent. Generally, there do no take any transactions.

Our software doesn’t record any transactions for the banks and is not involved in interests. So is what I’m doing halaal? When is it haraam to do software for banks? If it is haraam then is it necessary that one leaves it right away or wait till he finds another lawful job. What if that job is the only mean for him to support himself and feed his family?

A: If you are not promoting or guiding anyone towards riba transactions (interest) or any other haraam then your source of income is Halaal.

And Allah Ta’ala knows best.
