The end time of Asr Salaah

Q: What is the duration between the end time of Asr salaah and the Maghrib salaah? for example, if maghrib salaah time is 6.45 pm, can i perform asr until 6.30 pm?

A: The Asr time commences with the completion of Zuhr i.e. when the shadow of an object becomes twice its length and it ends with the setting of the sun. This may change all the time according to places, seasons etc.

وأول وقت الظهر إذا زالت الشمس لإمامة جبريل عليه السلام في اليوم الأول حين زالت الشمس وآخر وقتها عند أبي حنيفة رحمه الله إذا صار ظل كل شيء مثليه سوى فيء الزوال وقالا إذا صار الظل مثله وهو رواية عن أبي حنيفة رحمه الله وفيء الزوال هو الفيء الذي يكون للأشياء وقت الزوال لهما إمامة جبريل عليه السلام في اليوم الأول في هذا الوقت ولأبي حنيفة رحمه الله قوله عليه الصلاة والسلام أبردوا بالظهر فإن شدة الحر من فيح جهنم وأشد الحر في ديارهم في هذا الوقت وإذا تعارضت الآثار لا ينقضي الوقت بالشك وأول وقت العصر إذ خرج وقت الظهر على القولين (الهداية 1/ 81)
