Selling R5 Mandela coin for more

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: I buy and sell coins both old coins as well as the normal circulation ones. I want to ask that i sell for example a R5 mandela coin for R100, R500 and even R1000. What is the ruling regarding selling coins for more than the face value? Also what is the zakaat on these coins?

Bismillaah

A: Coins that are neither made of gold or silver could be sold for more or less provided it is cash, on the spot according to Imam Abu Hanifah and Abu Yusuf (rahimahumallah).
