Fasting While Working in a Restaurant Serving Alcohol

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: I just wanted to find out if my fast would be accepted as I’m working in a licensed restaurant. I personally don’t think it would, but would like to get some advice about it from someone who knows better.

A: The fast will be valid. If licensed means that you are selling alcohol or any other type of intoxicant, you should try your best to leave that job as soon as possible and look for an alternative. Make taubah and ask Allah Ta`ala for forgiveness and help.
