Offering Tahajjud Salaah without being punctual on the Fardh Salaah

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: Can a person who is not regular with his farz namaaz be eligible to offer tahajjud namaaz?

Bismillaah

A: Yes. Tahajjud salaah is a separate sunnah of Rasulullah (sallallahu alaihi wasallam). If one is not punctual on his faraaidh, it does not mean that he should omit the sunnats in deen. Rather, he should do both.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
