Using a serviette with the name Muhammad written on it in Arabic

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: Can one use a serviette which has the word Muhammad written on it in Arabic? It was the name of the groom in a wedding.

Bismillaah

A: This is not correct. This name should be shown respect. Using this serviette upon which the name Muhammad is written and thereafter wiping one’s dirty hands and throwing the serviette in the dustbin is against the respect of this name. If the serviette was used, then istighfaar should be made and people should be discouraged from this..

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
